The award-winning musician Maski, also known as Asanda Mvana, grew up in East London. Growing up she was very much active in various musical activities.

On the 20th of January 2023, Msaki announced that she will be leaving social media for some time. Moreover, she also decided to take a break from fame and performing.

Before Msaki stated the news, she started by showing some gratitude to her supporters for the deluge of support and love she received daily. The multi-talented musician also asked her supporters to understand where she was coming from along with departing from the space.

“The same sensitivity where the songs come from is the same sensitivity that can’t handle this callus badgering and normalization of bullying. Allow me to take my leave for my wholeness. Please remember me as the one who said we are not meant to take this, even if it comes with the territory. I stand for them as I leave. We need to love more. Please don’t push people to the edge and only have empathy after they become a statistic. Be kind to my colleagues, we are just people. We need more gentleness and grace for each other. Please can we change.”

Despite what the musician was going through, she expressed how happy she was to honor her last few gigs. Msaki further stated that her team will utilize her social media pages as a “notice board “

However, before the popular musician announced her departure from social media, she released her new single called Zibonakalise. Above all, let’s continue to support Msaki through the hardships she is currently facing.
